Foods to avoid when trying to Lose Weight Fast

foods to avoid

We’re all searching for that magic pill. That one thing that can help us drop weight fast and say goodbye to the layers of fat that weighs us down. But what if that magic pill that we’ve all been so desperate to find was right in front of us and we just didn’t know it? What you put in your mouth can pack on the pounds like no other, so it only makes sense that what we don’t put in our mouths can help us drop the weight we need to lose as well. Here are 10 things you should stop eating immediately if you’re serious about wanting to lose weight fast.

Whole Wheat Bread

We often think that whole wheat bread is good for our bodies and much healthier than your conventional white bread, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Today’s wheat is nothing like the grain that our parents or grandparents used to it, and it’s actually responsible for triggering several health problems like celiac, acid reflux and even skin disorders. Try taking wheat out of your diet and see if you notice any health improvements. Just remember to give it a while because wheat withdrawal is real.

Non-Dairy Creamer

If you’re anything like us than you probably have a hard time functioning properly without coffee. It’s a glorious drink that can turn a bad day into a great one and even boost your energy before a workout. With that being said, don’t spoil it by adding non-dairy creamer into the mix. Not only are they packed with preservatives and hard-to-pronounce ingredients, they’re also full of high-fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated oils, which encourages and promotes weight gain. Drink your coffee black instead or go for some organic milk or unsweetened coconut milk if you’re looking for a creamier consistency.

Diet Foods

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: diet food is one of the worst things to eat if you want to lose weight. Anytime something claims to be sugar free or fat free, it means that they’ve had to add in artificial ingredients to give you the flavor of the original product. Whether that’s artificial sweeteners like sucralose or aspartame or some other kind of food substitute, we can safely assume that it’s not good for you or your body. Plus, drinking or eating diet foods can actually cause cravings and spurn a binge eating marathon.

Chicken Wings

We can’t believe we’re saying this (because we definitely love chicken wings), but chicken wings are something you’re going to have to give up if you want to lose weight quickly. Just one piece of chicken wings has a whopping 81 calories. We don’t even want to go into how much fat, sodium and sugar there is on top of that. Considering most of us will probably dig into a bucket in one go, we’re talking thousands of calories at just one meal. As delicious as they are, we’re just going to have to say no thank you!

Artificially Flavored Popcorn

You know those bags of popcorn that you can toss into the microwave for a tasty movie night snack? Get rid of them, now. These bags contain fake butter flavorings of which a common ingredient is a substance called diacetyl. It’s so harmful to the people who make the popcorn that there’s even a disease named after it called “popcorn lung”. Do you really want to be eating product that contains a chemical making people sick? Hard pass!

For many of us, margarine is the better option and a good choice to make at the supermarket because it’s supposedly healthier than butter. While we’re well intentioned with the choice that we make, it’s actually one that could do us more damage than good. Margarine is full of trans fats which can lower your HDL cholesterol levels and increase your LDL, triglycerides and even damage your arteries. Choose healthy fats like avocado oil, coconut oil or grass-fed butter instead.

Instant Noodles

It’s a college dorm staple and great when you’re in a pinch, but as a whole instant noodles are terrible for you because of their high MSG content. MSG is often the culprit behind many weight lost riggers such as over the top food cravings and even debilitating migraines. Studies have also shown that consuming just two packs of instant noodles a week can increase your risk of developing cardio metabolic syndrome and can also increase your risk of developing conditions like diabetes and heart disease.

Table Salt

Bad things happen when you start over processing food. The same can be said for spices and condiments including salt. Essentially, table salt starts off healthy enough when it’s still sea salt, but the extreme process of refining it and turning it into table salt turns it into one of the unhealthiest substances you can put in your body. By the time it’s ready to be put in a salt shaker, table salt has been completely stripped of all of its minerals and even its chemical structure has been altered.

Fast Food French Fries

Looking for what is likely the number one killer in America? Well you’ve found it. Say hello to fast food French fries. The reason is simple: it’s loaded with trans-fat. Fast food French fries are deep fried in hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils. Even if the oils are vegetable based, the oil itself has actually been modified to ensure that it has a longer shelf life. So think about this way: the next time you’re about to reach for a medium serving of French fries from your favorite fast food join, you’re about to be giving yourself a 14.5 gram super-serving of fat. There’s no “reasonable” amount of trans-fat to be ingested in the first place, so eating that much of it will increase your risk of heart diseases by at least 23 percent. That number only gets higher if you’re eating this stuff regularly.
